Castle Hill Productions has acquired worldwide rights to Asset Pictures' forthcoming feature documentary, Five Wives, Three Secretaries and Me, directed by Tessa Blake and produced by Jason Lyon, it was announced today by Mel Maron, President of Marketing and Distribution.
Five Wives, which marks the directorial debut of 29 year-old Blake, charts the eccentricities of her remarkable, 80-something father, a self-made millionaire, oil magnate, and the Texas high society from which he comes. It will open in New York on September 17.
Ms. Blake skillfully blends the comic and the poignant in setting her portrait of a hotshot attorney, Hollywood playboy, serial monogamist and loving, but remote father against the backdrop of the outrageous excesses of the Lone Star state. What results is an incisive examination of universal family conflicts played out in the over-the-top microcosm of the Houston jet set. Interspersing interviews with several of his wives - most of whom he continues to see - with the wry commentary of his secretaries, one of whom has been with him longer than all the wives put together, the film has received considerable acclaim on the film festival circuit.
Castle Hill Productions, now in its 21st year of doing business as a multi-faceted corporation, was founded by Julian Schlossberg, and has offices in New York and Los Angeles. The company owns a library of over 350 motion picture titles, including two Academy nominated documentaries, "A Great Day in Harlem" and "The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story," making it one of the largest independent distributors of first run features, classics and re-runs, to theatrical, home video, pay per view and TV venues.
